Doug Johnson, Director
Doug Johnson is director and founder of the Sundance Ranch Feline Sanctuary.
As the director of the sanctuary, Doug has led the way in changing the whole tone of animal welfare in eastern New Mexico - from sad, gory, and horrific to upbeat, encouraging, and empowering. This approach, which imbues all the activities at the Sundance Ranch, has played a crucial part in the remarkable growth of support for the Sundance Ranch. Doug is also the chief fundraiser for the sanctuary and its programs, and helps other no-kill organizations develop and maintain their own policies and programs.
Doug grew up in Kansas and studied art and photography. After moving to New Mexico with his wife he began the task of developing the Sundance Ranch and its outreach programs.
Today, Doug, along with his personal assistant, Duchess run the largest and most successful feline sanctuary in New Mexico.
